Amazon KDP Upload Limit: 2 Titles Per Format Each Week

The Amazon KDP upload limit is now 2 new titles per book format each week. Amazon applies that number to two separate actions: creating a title and submitting a new title for publication for the first time.

Kindle eBook, paperback, and hardcover each have their own limits. Amazon explains both in its Create a Book guidelines.

Two limits to track: creation and submission

• Creation: up to 2 new titles per format each week.

• First submission: up to 2 new titles per format each week, including titles saved as drafts in an earlier week.

Creating a title and submitting it are separate steps. Keeping a draft in your Bookshelf does not reserve an extra submission slot for later.

When does the weekly limit reset?

Both limits reset every Sunday at 12:00 AM UTC, which is midnight at the start of Sunday in Coordinated Universal Time.

Convert that time to your local timezone when planning uploads. The reset is not necessarily Sunday midnight where you live, and it is not a rolling seven-day wait after each upload.

Saved drafts still count when you submit them

Saving several weeks of drafts does not let you submit all of them at once. Each draft counts toward the first-submission limit in the week you submit it.

For example, four paperback drafts saved earlier still need at least two weekly submission windows at the standard limit. Drafting ahead can help you organize the work, but it does not remove the submission cap.

Updates to titles you have already submitted do not count toward the weekly first-submission limit.

Each format has its own allowance

Two eBooks, two paperbacks and two hardcovers use the separate allowances for all three formats. That is six format-specific title entries, not six slots that can all be used for paperbacks.

A single book released as an eBook, paperback and hardcover uses one slot in each format when created, and one in each format when first submitted. Choose formats that suit the book and its readers rather than making extra editions just to fill the allowance.

What to do when you reach the limit

Schedule the remaining titles for the next weekly window. Use the time for proofreading, checking files and preparing the listing.

If your Bookshelf shows an unexpected limit or an error after the reset, contact KDP support with the affected format and message. The current guidelines do not promise a higher allowance on request, so do not build your publishing schedule around an exception.
